Global Enterprise Challenge
| The Global Enterprise Challenge is an international competition run out of Scotland. Up to 21 countries take part in the event which requires senior secondary school students to answer a specified challenge by developing an innovative product or service and developing a supporting business plan. New Zealand has won the competition three times.
|
The Global Enterprise Challenge takes place at Massey University, Albany, Auckland and is spread over a 2 day period . The event involves 40 students from the North Shore and Auckland Central, and an additional 40 students selected from throughout the rest of the country by the Regional Coordinators.
| |
The students work in teams of eight (10 teams). Business mentors and corporate hosts work with the students and give logistical support over the two days. During the first day, the students will be set a New Zealand challenge and will hear from speakers and participate in various workshops on the topic of: Innovation, Business Planning, Marketing and Production, Finance and Presentation Techniques. This will give them the opportunity to have a trial run at the enterprise/challenge process.
 | At the end of the first day the International Challenge is launched via video link up. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the challenge with their mentors before retiring to their billets homes.
|
During the second day students will work in the boardrooms of their corporate hosts to complete the International Challenge. At the end of that day the students will return to Massey and each team will present a three minute presentation to the judges from which the national winners will be selected. The winning team will then go on to represent New Zealand and present their ideas to the international judging panel.
