TradeQual is an evening of celebration held October/November each year and includes an official dinner with entertainment. |
We all recognise that there is a shortage of qualified and skilled trades' persons in these disciplines.
The balance will vary by region and company but the shortage is relevant to national growth.
The reasons for this are generally well agreed upon, but Chamber Southland has identified elements where we feel we could make a difference to the overall situation.
The communitie's general view to the value of the trades professions has the expectation that they will be available, to build, to service and to repair and be taken for granted almost in a sub servant way. It is also not the norm to celebrate the achievement of years of academic and skill training to become a fully qualified trades' person, other than receiving a certificate in the post from the training provider. |
 |
TradeQual is designed to up market the ‘Trades’ as an area for professional career options and place trades in the mindset of the public and students with a well deserved higher value in status.
