Security Plastics is a Christchurch based plastic card printer and manufacturer. They were established in 1983 as a joint venture between Wilson & Horton and Whitcoulls to specialise in the manufacture and processing of plastic cards for the financial industry.
Internationally they conduct business with over 180 Banks and commercial organisations in 30 different countries world-wide.
Security Plastics are the only accredited card manufacturer and as a result, are certified to manufacture all the main card labels like Visa, Master Card, Diners Club. American Express and Bankcard. They also produce cards for the telecommunication, commercial, retail and transportation sectors. Photo ID cards are a major growth area and Security Plastics produce all the NZ drivers’ licenses as well as 80% of the ID cards for the NZ secondary schools, Firearms Licenses and Police ID cards. Security Plastics are involved in the production and supply of new technologies for the financial industry such as smart cards and have a personalisation bureau in Christchurch processing cards for most of the country’s major banks.
Loyalty card programmes are another of Security Plastics growth area - Fly-Buys, OneCard, AA, Farmers, Airline frequent flyer cards, Retail Club - the list keeps growing and loyalty cards are becoming more and more visible. Marketers have felt compelled by the economics of loyalty to devote an increasing share of their activity to creating or maintaining loyal customers. From here it is a short step to offering rewards and showing tangible appreciation of their support. This type of programme increases customers’ overall loyalty, encourages newcomers to the programme, increases sales and creates brand awareness.
