Craig's Design and Print

Upon arriving at the office of Craig’s Design and Print in Yarrow St, we were shown through to the central office space and in turn each member was asked to sit astride a red shiny Harley Davidson and smile for the camera. (Why we ask ourselves) This BA5 was more like a Christmas party, the mood was jovial and both management and staff made everyone very welcome.

After some refreshments Neil Jackson welcomed the large gathering and gave an outline of the company’s history from 1876 and an update on where it is today. He described how the business had diversified and grown in technology and product range and how the integration with Atlas Print in 2001 had allowed them to grow into a new vibrant and competitive operation supplying service throughout Australasia.
| The gathering then split into 3 groups, with a staff member heading each group for a tour of the print shop and surrounding operational network. As the print shop works 7 days and with night shifts there was plenty going on and most machines were active with busy staff on many different projects. |
Souvenir programmes of ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’ premier were among the printing activities of the night going through the printing and assembling lines. We were able to see the whole process from the design room computer to the finished hard copy. Members were interested in seeing the many different facilities and wide range of services available. This included the only watermark process available in the Southern hemisphere. The tour took in the large complex including the design, computer rooms and attached retail ‘Orange Products Depot store’.
After all the tour parties re assembled Rodger Wills C.E.O, and department managers answered questions after which drinks and nibbles inspired healthy networking. On leaving the secret of the photo was revealed with everyone receiving a 2006 wall calendar, personalised with their Harley photo taking a prominent place. Members also received a carry bag with sweets and stationery gifts.
