ABN AMBRO Craigs - Ba5 Tuesday 10th May 2005 Don Huse - Auckland International Airport
Don Huse, the CEO of Auckland International Airport gave investors and potential investors, good reason to make the Airport part of their stock portfolio at the ABN-ANRO Craigs/Chamber of Commerce BA5 held at Club Southland, Leet Street on May 10.
Mr. Huse gave a very in depth presentation into the business practices and income streams the airport is currently managing. Aeronautical, retail shops, car parks and rental income make up for the $142,650 million dollar revenue recorded at December 2004.
Expansions and upgrades continue to make the airport attractive to overseas airlines setting up shop. Take for instance the arrival of 'Emirates' who wish to bring in the Airbus A380. They have invested $2million on an 'airport lounge' for their passenger arrivals. The airbus has also meant Auckland Airport has had to extend its main runway by 7.5 metres down either side. This runway shoulder is not load-bearing but is to accommodate the large aircraft's wider engine overhang. The aircraft has enough room on its wings to park 70 cars. These aircraft can bring in up to 500 passengers which will ultimately increase the passenger arrivals into Auckland. They hope to begin their first landings in mid 2006.
