2005 AGM & Business after 5
hosted by Venture Southland.
The 2004-2005 Southland AGM was held in Venture Southland's Board room Tuesday 28th March. After the oficial meeting a BA5 was hosted by Venture who gave a profile and update to members on current and future projects.

A large number of Chamber members were present with plenty of Venture staff on hand, and after being served a delicious array of fabulous food the Chambers AGM got underway.
The new 2005-2006 Chamber Board is as follows:
President: Mr. Andrew Leys
Vice President: Mr. Dave Rohan
Immediate Past: President: Mr. Kevin Frater
Board Members:
1. Mr. Brian Cooper (NZAS)
2. Mr. Neville Cook (Reddings Cinema)
3. Mr. Tony Williamson (Design Base)
4. Mr. Michael Weusten (EH Ball & Son)
Eastern Southland: Mr. Nick Jeffery (Hokonui Radio)
Export Forum: Mr. Mark O'Connor (Southport)
This was followed by Venture Southland's Ba5, CEO Jeff Troon gave an overview of Venture explaining who the board was made up of, funding, reports and outcomes during the last three years. Then each head of department presented a report on their projects with the support of a power point presentation. As you can see below a large number of projects were explained:
Broadband, Air Services - International Flights, Energy, Water Study, Transport, Discover Fiordland, Curio Bay Natural Heritage Centre, Marine Projects, Southland Innovator, Technology Projects, Museum Funding, Enterprise Training Programme, Immigration and Skill Development, Innovation through Interaction, Southland Innovator Project, Crops for Southland, Topoclimate, Southland Tourism Strategy, Project ACTIVate, Southland Incubator with SIT, Tourism Statistics, Tourism Initiatives, Community Planning, Product Development, Events partnered with other providers and organizations, Cyber Communities, Settlement Support for Migrants, Community Development, External Promotions and Key Goals. Also the fact that Invercargill is now perceived to be one of the most progressive cities in NZ!
Thank you Venture for hosting a very informative evening and I'm sure we all understand alot more about what happens behind the doors of Venture Southland. Of course the doors are always open and you are welcome at any time to come in and talk about projects to develop the future of Southland.
