The Chair’s report highlighted the commissioning of the Chambers
Gore website project gorenz.com which is filling the sizable gap in
promoting the district on the Internet. This $11.7k project from
grants raised through the Chamber and from a marathon work load by
the project committee lead by Ewen Whitefield will be handed over
to the Gore District Council in March as a community asset. The CBD
Camera project was another highlighted project which has seen 2
security cameras installed in the shopping precinct with a further
2 to be installed on the fringe shortly.
The meeting time went over the record 7 minutes but did not
encroach into the networking evening which started with an update
from Melissa King on the forthcoming Moonshiners Festival on
February 25th.

Melissa also produced a sample 750mil bottle of special brew
‘Hokonui Moonshine’ which was put on the bar and later formed a
queue behind it.
Justine Abernethy, DB Breweries, gave a talk on the production and
history of Monteiths West Coast Brewery at which she passed around
samples of the various hops that are used for the different
labels.

After her informative talk she asked a quiz
question with the winner Lachlan Elliot, one of the Tamworh
visitors, being the 3rd to answer, and by answering correctly,
winning a Monteith 6 pack selection.

The attendees then got serious in adjourning to the Moonshine
Museum bar, to undertake the obligatory Monteith beer tasting with
a little moonshine chasing, all the while also enjoying a generous
well laid out supper.
