Quest Apartments
AT QUEST SERVICERD APARTMENTS
| We were concerned how everyone would fit into the small foyer, still paved with the original tiles of yesteryear. In fact we had a waiting list – | |
Quests director, Raman had kindly asked some of his guests to arrive late, because once again it was “full house” at Quest Apartments, unlike the first 15 days after they opened while Raman and his family waited and waited…for guests needing a room to arrive. Being used to the hustle and bustle of Raman's three other apartment blocks further north, his 7yr old son asked “Where are the people” and his wife said “what have you done” but with faith Raman answered ”be patient, business will soon start to flow” and sure enough it did. The old Post Office often has all 37 rooms full during the week, Raman still finds it a little quieter in the weekend – but then again so is the city. As everyone arrived their business cards were placed in the bowl, each one hoping to win the draw then went inside for refreshments after a busy day at work. Soon the foyer was full and spilling out onto the street as everyone waited for the Grand Tour to start.
As we wondered through the newly transformed building, some reminiscing over rooms they remembered – where someone had worked or.... as you might imagine this building has alot of stories to tell! Along the way we were greeted by local art and found modern but restful colours in the rooms, which are well equipped for a very comfortable stay. After meandering to the top where we found more refreshments, there was the descend, where you noticed some of the finer details like the metal window frames, which have changed from black to an authentic looking rubbed brass. Being our first Ba5 for the year there was lots of chatter, with new people to meet and time to catch up on what other members had been doing.
One of the main comments was, oooh we should go out on the town for the night then stay here instead of traveling home, what a great idea! The winners of our prize draw will be doing just that - Chris Fox from Opus International Consultants was the first drawn, Raman was so happy that night he decided to make a second draw! and Leeann de Vries from ANZ Bank was the lucky second winner.
Congratulations Raman, on your tasteful restoration of a memorable building and thank you for showcasing Quest Apartments. Also for offering a 'preferred corporate rate' to Chamber Members at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill.
The pictures you say, where are the pictures well…. well actually it’s a little embarrassing, but we were so wrapped up in the excitement of the evening that we didn’t realize we had no camera until it was... too late. So if you want to see what we saw, take a walk down to the old Post Office and meet Sarita the lovely receptionist – book yourself in for the night and enjoy!
