
ABN AMRO Craigs
ABN AMRO Craigs hosted the second BA5 for 2008 on the topic of
‘Creating Relevance for NZX in the New Zealand Financial markets’.
For those of you who thought it would be a dry, uninspiring
evening, the opposite was true, and those present were privy to a
most interesting presentation on the position of the NZX in the
financial landscape.

Geoff Brown, NZX Products Group Manager fronted the
evening. |
He covered the Role of an Exchange,i.e.
a) in the Primary Market the Exchange provides organizations with
access to capital, thereby providing capital to grow
b) in the Secondary Market, providing transparent price discovery
and liquidity – creating the ability to trade.
c) in a Regulatory/Supervisory role, protecting investors and
maintaining market confidence.
The purpose of the NZX is to assist in the transformation of New
Zealand’s economy, and to work towards a globally connected and
innovative marketplace that all New Zealand companies and
individuals can participate in, prosper from and trust.
Geoff has had over 20 years stockbroking in New Zealand, USA and
the UK and he has unrivalled expertise in equities market
development, retail and institutional investment strategy and
trading. His role with the NZX is leader of a group charged with
developing and growing NZX’s product set which includes listed
products, data products and fund products.
