Chamber and NZIM members gathered in the Victoria Concert Chamber
in anticipation of an entertaining evening with Sir Robert Jones’
acerbic style of wit and repartee. They were not disappointed. |
However, he did commence the evening with bouquets, not brickbats.
These were for the city with its paved areas. Mayor Tim was
encouraged to admit he had been responsible for these which was
acknowledged by Sir Bob as a great feature, one he had been unable
to succeed with in Wellington.
No topic is sacred to Sir Bob and the Institute of Management came
in for more than it’s fair share of insults, particularly as they
were hosting him and he was showcasing his new book ‘Jones on
Management’ which is full of derogatory declarations on the use and
status of management in today’s world.
Rules do not apply to Sir Robert Jones, but agree or disagree with
him one has to admit he is an avid observer and participater in
life.
