Stabi Craft Marine Factory Tour
October 2008
Chamber and Export Forum members’ meet at Stabi Craft Marine’s
showroom in October, for a BA5 and factory tour. Because of the
limitation with numbers, there was a waiting list and not all those
that registered were able to attend.
| Managing Director Paul Adams addressed the gathering and talked
about the 21 years of Stabi Craft evolution, their current profile
and future plans. He described that from1987 with the first
backyard built 3.5m dingy the business has grown to a world wide
exporter with four design ranges – |

the original Fish’rs, the recreational Sports XRs, the robust
Frontiers and the all-weather Super Cabs, with manufacture last
year of 680 + boats being turned out from the Invercargill
factory.
Stabi Craft employ a dedicated direct staff of 70, with many more
being sub contracted to supply other need such as specialised
painting. |

They have a global team of 16 dealers in New Zealand, 14 in
Australia, three in the US, one in Canada and one in New Caledonia
with an expanding demand on their products.
The factory tour consisted of 4 groups with key Stabi Craft
personal leading them around the factory and explaining production
and design. |
They viewed the ‘CAD’ design room where the team of 4 full time
designers ‘play’ and were shown the design skills in action then on
to the floor and through the various departments and production
process, the stores room and dispatch warehouse.Afterwards many
gathered back in the showroom to finish of the nibbles and a wine
or two.
