Introduction
The Southland Export Institute as an affiliate to the New Zealand Export Institute and as a separate organisation played a very active role in meeting exporter’s needs.
In 1991 the Southland Institute merged into the Southland Chamber of Commerce and the joint organisation re-named as The Chamber of Commerce Southland and International Trade, now know as The Chamber of Commerce Southland.

Chamber of Commerce Southland is the only networking organisation in Southland for Export and Import business and in the interests of this sector has a focused committee to assist in these relevant aspects.
The Committee is know as 'The Southland Export Forum'
The Southland Export Forum is an ideal networking and information sharing avenue.
Business can enjoy events, training, regular information and updates as well as other services and connections.
The Chamber also provides the opportunity to meet business people from a range of countries as from time to time we host incoming trade delegations and lead outgoing trade missions.
One of the popular highlights is the Export Dinner but guest speaker events, training updatesand visitsto export companies’ premises are also very popular.
These have varied from factory visits to champagne cruising around Bluff harbour to on board shipping tours. The forum has also organised the “First steps to exporting workshops” and has information available to assist importers and exporters in their business.
