Southland Export Dinner September 2006
 | A capacity audience attended the 2006 Southland export dinner and cabaret on Friday 15th of September.  |
Arranged by the Southland Export Forum with thanks to principal sponsor Tasman Orient supported by Advance International, South Port, HSBC and SBS the evening was set to be yet another enjoyable event.
| After a pre dinner cocktail hour with Hors d’oeuvres of mussel tartlets, smoked eel and a range of Thai stylenibbles, wine and fine Invercargill Breweries dew, which was available all evening, the scene moved to the Boys High School hall. Seated at tables of ten the attendees were greeted with a starter of smoked salmon and mushroom cheesecake with a portion of sumac spiced glazed salmon. |
| This was the start to a 4 course meal consisting of only Southland quality export foods from sponsors Southfish, Sanfords, Alliance, Pypers Produce, DB Export and finished off with a Mille Feuille pastry dish by Quality Foods Southland. |  |
Each attendee was also given a range of gifts from pads to pens, a wine stopper and a HSBC Backpack. The evening was one of celebration, fine foods, entertainment and an opportunity to recognise the importance that exports make to the economy of Southland. Nominations for export recognitions had been received for the 2 recognitions to be made, these were for company recognition and an individual recognition.
| The Evenings entertainment was from the Top Shelf Productions musical theatre group who delivered a wide range of song and dance from old classics to rock and roll, this was divided into 3 segments and enjoyed between the meal courses, the export recognitions were presented after the main course. received the individual recognition award. Whilst Mr. Bagrie is best known for his involvement as the Sales Director with Quality Foods Southland, he is widely recognised for his expertise in Asian markets and for the assistance, advice and representation of many Southland companies and products to Asia. Mr. Bagrie’s recognition read “In recognition of export success achieved plus support provided to the Southland export community”

received Company recognition with the award reading “In recognition of significant export growth achieved by a Southland based business.” Managing Director Paul Adams received the award which was given to highlight the global market penetration and innovation that can be achieved by Southland businesses.The Southland Export Recognition Awards dinner is held bi annually
